Antique bronze statue make for a fun way to add personality to your garden. Plants are an essential part of a garden, and a statue can never make that sort of claim on the area. However, a statue brings a sense of permanence to a garden that plants just don’t provide.

Statues also give a much broader range of styles than you can get from plants. Nature is certainly an amazing muse, but the range of antique bronze statue is truly amazing when you stop to think about it. The first things that come to most people’s minds when they think of garden decorations are lawn gnomes. These cute little statues depict small, quaintly dressed people doing every day activities. They have been a mainstay in yard decorating for a long time.

Their close cousin the plastic flamingo; gets an unfairly bad rap for being abused by some with poor taste. Both lawn gnomes and plastic flamingos can be used to great effect in a yard, as long as they are placed with some sense of restraint. They embody the whimsical, colorful side of antique statue.

There is a serious side to the genre as well. European walking gardens featured larger than life marble or granite statues. They could depict a ruler, or a favorite theme that the owner enjoyed, such as cherubs, wild game, or ordinary people. These types of statues are very traditional, dating back as far as ancient Greece, and possibly further.

Metal is a newer medium forantique bronze statue, since casting a mold and pouring a solid metal statue is a newer form of statue making than using a hammer and chisel on stone. However, within the metal category there are welded modern statues that can capture the abstract nature of an idea far more eloquently than words ever could. Whether it’s a humanoid impression, or simply geometric shapes, these kinds of antuqe bronze statue are very popular today.

The statue of Hercules with the World is one of the most remarkable antique bronze statue that can be seen in any city garden. There are other forms of sculptures that can be seen in most gardens today. The sculptures of figurines with water pitchers standing in the middle of a pool, pouring water into the pool is one more of the common antique bronze statue seen today. You can also see many other pool sculptures like a few fish pouring out water from the mouth or a crocodile being the fountainhead.

Most antique bronze statue are recent. There is very less record of these sculptures dating back to about one thousand years or so. Antique bronze statue add to the aesthetic beauty of the garden while at the same time working as the fountain in the middle of the garden. Some gardens have sculptures at the gate and they are made of granite. The striking difference between antique bronze statue and other city sculptures is the fact that these are readily available in any garden equipment shop. They are not heavily priced and are long lasting too.

Sculptures are always known to be made of marble stones and granite. These take time to sculpt out and are to be chiseled to a finish. However, once done, they become beautiful showpieces that are ready for adoring any garden. Even you can buy one of these antique bronze statue for your own private garden. It is believed that the more the sight of water falling from a height, the better the financial luck of that household. The figurines with pitchers placed at the appropriate place in the garden help in understanding this principle of Feng Shui to a better extent.

Antique bronze statue can always be ordered over the internet. Go online and search for the typical antique bronze statue of your choice. You would find your requirement available in one or the other internet shop in the country. The most obvious advantage of internet shopping is the fact that you can actually see the picture of the product you are purchasing. If the product meets your specifications, you can place a firm order with the website concerned. Delivery schedules need to be spoken about with the customer service help desk.

Always be on the lookout for clauses that may help in revoking the order if the delivery schedule is not followed. The only problem with internet-based orders is the fact that if the sculpture comes to you in a damaged condition, there is very little you can do about it. You lose the money and that is a big risk that you would have to take if ordering on the internet. That is why people prefer to get to a proper shop with a physical address where you can specify delivery terms and payments.

Antique bronze statue are great for the house with a garden. It gives a sense of great beauty to the place and people look at such a house with a great amount of respect and dignity.

A tourist wanders into a back-alley antique shop in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Picking through the objects on display he discovers a detailed, life-sized bronze sculpture of a rat. The sculpture is so interesting and unique that he picks it up and asks the shop owner what it costs.

"Twelve dollars for the rat, sir," says the shop owner, "and a thousand dollars more for the story behind it."

"You can keep the story, old man," he replies, "but I’ll take the rat."

The transaction complete, the tourist leaves the store with the bronze rat under his arm. As he crosses the street in front of the store, two live rats emerge from a sewer drain and fall into step behind him. Nervously looking over his shoulder, he begins to walk faster, but every time he passes another sewer drain, more rats come out and follow him. By the time he’s walked two blocks, at least a hundred rats are at his heels, and people begin to point and shout. He walks even faster, and soon breaks into a trot as multitudes of rats swarm from sewers, basements, vacant lots, and abandoned cars. Rats by the thousands are at his heels, and as he sees the waterfront at the bottom of the hill, he panics and starts to run full tilt.

No matter how fast he runs, the rats keep up, squealing hideously, now not just thousands but millions, so that by the time he comes rushing up to the water’s edge a trail of rats twelve city blocks long is behind him. Making a mighty leap, he jumps up onto a light post, grasping it with one arm while he hurls the bronze rat into San Francisco Bay with the other, as far as he can heave it. Pulling his legs up and clinging to the light post, he watches in amazement as the seething tide of rats surges over the breakwater into the sea, where they drown.

Shaken and mumbling, he makes his way back to the antique shop.

"Ah, so you’ve come back for the rest of the story," says the owner.

"No," says the tourist, "I was wondering if you have a bronze lawyer."

A question for the experienced antiquist…?

I found what appears to be a heavy bronze letter opener in the form of the Statue of David. The figure is standing atop a dagger with curled handle ends. David’s body makes the handle and on the bottom of the platform where he’s standing is the engraving "MADE ITALY". It is about 71/2 incles long. I found it while digging in my backyard and am wondering whether it is of any value, or if it is probably just a souvenir. Any informations is appreciated and if anyone can suggest any websites regarding antiques, thank you very much!

Recommendation for Gallery’s for Selling Antiques and Antiquities?
I’m looking for a reputable gallery to sell my mother-in-law’s antiques and antiquities. She has a wide collection of pieces including statues and sculptures of marble, bisque, gold, and bronze from all over the world. Once piece is from between 300 and 400 B.C. and it’s marble in very good condition. Also, she has a Greek vase from the third century in extremely good condition and it tells a story through the designs. She also has furniture, Asian art, an ivory handle real samurai sword, ect. She’s looking to sell most of her collection. We’re working with one gallery in NY and have been waiting two years to sell some pieces without even a nibble; I think we’re getting ripped off. I need help please of any recommendations for high end antiques and antiquities gallery? Thanks so much.

A guy is on vacation, walking down the street in a little beach town. He walks past an antique store and sees a bronze rat in the window. He goes in and asks the owner how much it is. The says it is .50 and explains that all sales are final. He may not return in for any reason after purchase. The guys agrees and purchases the rat. He sticks it in his pocket and as he is walking towards the beach he realizes that there are hundreds of rats following him. Every time he turns around there are thousands more. As he reaches the ocean he throws the bronze rat as far into the water as he can. All the rats follow after it. The guy goes back to the store where he bought it. The owner says, hey, I told you that all sales are final and you cant have your money back. The guys says, no no thats fine. I was just wondering, how much is that statue of the mexican guy up there on the shelf?

Now here’s the story of the tourist who walked into a Brighton curio/antique shop. After looking around for a while, he noticed a very life-like bronze statue of a rat. It had no price tag, but it was so striking that he decided to have it anyway. So he took it to the owner and said: "How much is this bronze rat?"

The owner replied: "It is £12 for the rat, and £100 for the story."

Well, the tourist gave the man his £12 and said: "I’ll just take the rat, you can keep the story."

As he walked off down the street, he noticed that a few real rats had crawled out of the sewers and begun following him. This was a little disconcerting, so he started to walk a little faster but within a couple of blocks the swarm of rats had grown to hundreds and they were all squealing & screeching in a very menacing way. He increased his speed & ran on towards the beach, and as he ran, he looked behind him and saw the rats now numbered in their MILLIONS, and they were running faster & faster. By now very concerned, he ran to the edge of the sea and threw the bronze rat far out into the water.

Amazingly, the millions of real rats jumped into the water after it and were all drowned.

The man walked back to relate all this to the shop owner, who said: "Ah, you’ve come back for the story then!" "No," said the tourist – "I came back to see if you’ve got a bronze Muslim fundamentalist cleric and anything French.

Getting married ans getting mad, what should I do?

I am from a well off family, and I got engaged to get married to a girl from Puygarrig. She is pretty, everybody here and at Perpignan considers her charming. The best thing about her is that she’s very rich. Her aunt at Prades left her all her property. I shall be very happy.
My mother gave me an ancient ring, very beautiful, a family heirloom, and I added some diamonds to it, which cost me cool twelve thousands, and I intended it for my future wife.
My father likes antiques. Recently, he found a bronze statue of Venus on our land. My father is obsessed with it. It’s certainly dates from Romans. It’s made from copper, and represents the most beautiful woman, with the face somewhat cruel, but lovely. My father put her near the tennis court. Tennis is my passion, and I am a very good player.
On the morning of my wedding, there was a game of tennis on the court: Spanish muleteers against locals. I was all dressed to go, in my wedding gear, and stood watching. Muleteers won, and I decided to play too, to uphold the honour of the province. I wore that twelve thousands ring on my finger, and I couldn’t play properly with it on. So, I put it on the Venus’ finger, and won the game. Then I was in a hurry to go to the wedding, and forgot the ring. I had to give my wife a simple golden ring when we exchanged vows. I thought that I would give her the nice one when we got home. But when we did, I couldn’t pull it off Venus’ finger! She closed her hand and bent her finger! It’s true, but I am afraid to talk about it, in case people decide that I am delusional. In short, I am "married" to that statue and I can’t get the ring off, what should I do?
